Video Hot spot

Hi
i work for a non-profit organisation who prevent heroin abuse and AIDS disease in Canada. We work on a RPG video game with the visual style of Myst-like games .
We want to know if it's possible with the spi-v engine to include some video-clip into panorama with alpha channel or some type of masking .. like "video-hot spot" in myst-like games.
If it's possible we will use this engine to make our game.

Thanks you
Jean-Pierre Léveillée

Implemented vs possible

You certainly attracted my attention with the term 'Myst-like games' (though I have been more than a bit busy and slow to respond, sorry about that).

I am tempted to answer your question as follows: Yes, it is possible. But unfortunately, real video support is not available in the current version of SPi-V. Workarounds are possible; you could use multiple separate frames, as long as the video (loop) is not too long. This may work ok-ish from CD, but not really from the web. Then there's the possibility to work with an extension, which would have to be written for this project (other projects could ofcourse also benefit from this extension).

Actual video support is planned for SPi-V 1.4, which I will be releasing the first betas of in the second half of september.

PS: with panoramas and AIDS mentioned in one topic, I can't help but add a link to Mickael Therer's Walking with AIDS.
